Effective: October 2026
This policy explains what information cloudosprey.com (“Cloud Osprey,” “we”) collects, how we use it and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Information you send us: your name, email address and message when you use the contact form or leave a comment.
- Usage data: pages visited, referring site, browser, device and approximate location, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Technical logs: IP address and request details kept by our hosting and security providers to run and protect the site.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them for three purposes: essential cookies that keep the site secure and working (for example Cloudflare’s bot-protection cookie and WordPress comment cookies), analytics cookies that tell us which articles are useful, and advertising cookies used by Google and its partners to show and measure ads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; essential features may stop working if you do.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent, through a Google-certified consent message, before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy link shown on the site.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, connected through Google’s Site Kit plugin (and, where enabled, Google Tag Manager), to understand how readers use the site, such as which articles are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes data as described in Google’s privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Other service providers
- Hosting and security: DreamHost hosts the site and Cloudflare provides DNS, caching and protection against malicious traffic.
- Jetpack (Automattic): site statistics, security and image delivery.
- Email newsletter: if you subscribe, your email address is stored and processed by Automattic (WordPress.com/Jetpack) to send you new posts. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your subscription at any time via the contact page.
- Comments: a hash of your email address may be sent to Automattic’s Gravatar service to display your profile picture.
- Forms and email: contact form messages are delivered to our Microsoft 365 mailbox through Microsoft’s email service. We don’t add you to any mailing list.
How we use information
We use information to run and secure the site, reply to messages, understand which content is useful, and show ads. We don’t sell your personal information.
Comments
If you comment, we store the comment, your name, email and IP address so we can moderate it. Your email address is never published.
Retention
We keep contact messages only as long as needed to respond and follow up. Approved comments stay with the article. Analytics and advertising data are kept according to the providers’ settings.
Your rights and choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser, opt out of personalized ads as described above, and ask us to access, correct or delete personal information you’ve sent us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. To make a request, use our contact page.
Children
This site is written for IT professionals and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
